Found primarily in Southeast Asia, the mangosteen fruit (Garcinia mangostana) is composed of a purplish rind (or skin), a succulent white pulp (four to eight segments) and seeds (one to five). The mangosteen is one of nature’s greatest sources of xanthones and the rind is home to the fruit’s highest xanthone concentration.
For centuries, traditional healers have used the mangosteen. Touted for its traditional healing properties, the divine taste of the mangosteen has made it a true prize.
